Library of Alexandria

The recently completed "Bibliotheca Alexandrina", a $220 million replacement for the famous and now long since departed Library of Alexandria from antiquity. This was one of the few works of modern architecture I've ever seen that I actually found beautiful. It was modern without being cold (the text on the outside was endlessly fascinating and reminded one of the human hands that first wrote). If you look closely you can see writing from what are supposedly all of the world's written scripts. I think I recognized only about a third of them.
