In the Desert of Wadi Rum

One Thursday afternoon, Amjad, Farouk, Hussein and I set off for a trip to the south of Jordan to visit some of Jordan's more famous tourist attractions. Our first stop was the desert nature reserve of Wadi Rum where we arranged to have a local guide take us out.

Under a moonlit sky we built a fire, drank some tea and gazed up at the stars. When we all stopped talking there was not a sound to be heard but the occasional rustle of the wind.
